Graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, 1967, called to the Bar 1969.

Awarded various awards for academic success during three years of the LLB course. Obtained the Treasurers medal, and a number of other awards on graduation.

Commenced articles and became an associate of Thomson Rogers in 1967 (87 Lawyer Firm) and practiced civil litigation law, insurance law, with that organization until 1973. (Plaintiff and Defence Departments)

Became a partner of Alterwerger, Lapowich and Lapowich and practiced civil litigation, errors & omissions professional liability, insurance claims and insurance policy interpretations primarily as a partner, sole practitioner in that area, until joining Koskie Minsky LLP as a partner in 1985.

Senior litigation partner at Koskie Minsky LLP and contributor to Insurance Institute of Ontario including lecturer in Annual Insurance Seminar on errors & omissions insurance. Contributor to monthly articles of REM Magazine. Practicing civil litigation and as a specialist in civil litigation as of the inception date of the Law Society of Upper Canada Specialist Program.

Present practice is concentrated on errors & omissions liability of professionals including lawyers, real estate agents and brokers, insurance agents and brokers, dentists and others including involvement in Complaints and Discipline matters of various professionals before Professional Tribunals.

Creation of manuscript wordings in insurance policies, interpretation of insurance policy wordings and coverages and attendances at numerous trials and at appeals throughout the Ontario jurisdiction and mentor to litigation associates at Koskie Minsky LLP. Past lecturer at the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association of Ontario as well as member of the Advocates’ Society, CBAO and Canadian Bar Association of Canada, CDL and Council on Litigation Management, Hon. R.G.D. of the Association of Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario, member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of “Life and Living” for mentally challenged adults.

Subject matters of practice has been multi-faceted including commercial litigation, corporate litigation, real estate litigation, life insurance litigation, fire insurance litigation, professional liability litigation, general insurance litigation, throughout Ontario.

Obtained Queen’s Counsel in 1982 (Certificate signed by the Honourable Justice John White). Member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada and active in continuing practice of law.

Born in London, Ontario. Attended University of Western Ontario (Dean’s Honour List) and graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School (downtown Toronto) 1967 was called to the Bar in March of 1969.

Married to Arlene Lapowich with two adult married children and five grandchildren.
